What happens when you combine the love for family, a passion for jewelry making and an eye for design? You get a one-of-a-kind jewelry store focused on expertly, crafted pieces and a customer experience that is second to none. 

Kris Chhabria is not your ordinary jewelry store owner. He lives and breathes jewelry and believes that family lies at the core of every great business transaction.

Born in Bombay, India on August 29, 1978, to Aarti and Suresh Chhabria, Kris was raised in a middle-class, joint family with great family and cultural values, including strong work ethics. His family owned stores in 5-star hotels selling clothing to tourists from all over the world. During his early studies, he helped with the family business, but once his education was complete, he decided to venture out on his own and travel abroad to see the world. In 2000, while in Aruba, an opportunity to learn the jewelry business knocked on his door and he accepted a position as a sales associate in a jewelry store. It was here that the seeds were planted to eventually open his own store. 

After learning the trade, he felt that the industry was missing something. He didn't like that many customers were being treated like just a number and knew that if given the chance to open his own store, he would create an environment with personalized service where everyone felt welcomed. 

After working for 5 years toward his goal, he had saved enough money to study at his dream school, GIA in New York City. After successfully completing his GIA degree and making a number of valuable connections in the industry, he moved to Alaska to take on seasonal employment. While there he fell in love with the natural beauty and feeling of community and knew that this was where he would open his first store. He worked hard for the next 9 years and saved up enough capital to make his dream a reality.

During those years before opening, he met his Lady Luck, Kristy, whom he married, and they now have 4 beautiful children (includes a set of triplets) together. With so many blessings coming his way, the day he was unexpectedly offered a store in Juneau Alaska in a prime spot, he said yes to the store, sight unseen, and hasn't looked back. 

Kris' drive and dedication to providing customers with the best selection of unique jewelry with unsurpassed craftsmanship and design are in his DNA. Most importantly, he wants every customer to feel like a part of his family.

Established in 2014, Jewels By Kris's flagship store opened in the beautiful community of Juneau, Alaska and most recently in the lovely St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.  We are happy to now serve customers worldwide with our online store and look forward to creating even more memorable customer experiences.
